If your from joplin, you know where i'm talking about. Snowball is area where they use to mine zinc (i'm guessing) and over the years and like most mine waste areas became a popular spot to go off roading, and over time trails we're made and as become a awesome place to ride for people in joplin. I dont know much about its history but I have been riding there for quite some time, I was 8-9 the first time I rode there with my dad, but anyways its been a mystery to most who go there becuase sometimes you would get run off by police or the so called land owner but I've had dozens of people tell me there the owner. A few years ago (2006-2007) someone had leased the land and made a offroad park for everyone for a small addmission fee, sadly it closed down shorty in 2007 or 2008, but that didnt stop people from going in.

I'm so glad to hear that a jeep owners club called the Brush Beater Jeep Club(< click for a link) has bought most of the land and is opening it to the public for a addmission free, not sure on prices, or if camping will be avaliable yet but I will keep this update as I go. Its no chadwick but its still pretty big with some crazy hill climbs. Thanks for reading guys, hope maybe we'll plan a meeting there someday!

Heres very lil info about it: http://www.offroadnorthamerica.com/park.asp? (< click for link)The map on there dosnt pin point snowball's location just where joplin is.

Awesome Dusty, its always good to hear of another riding area locally. We really appreciate you sharing this with us and hopefully some of the members will get a chance to ride it when it gets up and going.

The problem with most of the places opening and closing so quickly is that insurance is a pain in the butt, people get stupid showing off and get hurt and then they sue the land owner because of their own negligence. For some reason judges are unable to see that a person trying to jump a bulldozer on their quad or bike is likely the problem rather than the land owner who probably did not even know the guy was doing it, our legal system is flawed and until new laws are passed it will remain an issue. Unfortunately most laws that are passed are actually against us instead of for us, the best thing we can do is support the places that allow us to ride and promote safety and respectful riding until we finally prove that we too should have protection from the government rather than singling us out because 1% of riders are irresponsible idiots.

WOW I'm ranting, sorry lol. I just wanted to explain the issue at hand when it comes to the parks. Thanks again for sharing Dusty, maybe we can all ride it sometime Twisted Evil

Dusty, sounds like yet another great area to check out and ride. I grew up riding the chat piles in Pitcher, OK. You just really have to watch out for the sink holes and drop offs.

Please keep us posted as my crew will definately be interested in heading down that way. It is only a little over an hour to my dad's trailer from there too!

We will definately be planning on going back to Rocktoberfest in Disney, OK of which they normally hold the weekend before Haloween.

k guys I've got a chance to talk to the owner last sunday and got some info. Ride all day for $10, still not sure about camping. Anybody thats from joplin that would like to know theres a membership you can buy for $35/mo and you get a key to the front gate to ride any time you want.

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

Any decent paying jobs in Joplin now though?

Well I know construction is really slow right now, theres couple of manufacturing that would still be worth appling too like able body, some welding jobs.
