I would take the carb apart and clean your pilot jet, if you take your float bowl off it will be the one with the "flat-head" screw head on it, take it out and run a VERY thin wire through it and some carb cleaner. When the quads and bike sit for a while all the sediment from the fuel and fuel tank will settle in the carb and the pilot circuit is VERY tiny so that is where even the smallest things get caught up.

Usually a pilot jet issue will allow the engine to start and idle, sometimes better with the choke on, but when you give it gas it tries to pull through the pilot and blaaaaaaaaaah dies, lol.

If you need any help doing it, post it on the board and someone near you will help you out.

The first pic is where they are typically located, inside a shallow "tube" of sorts, the second pic is what they actually look like

Good luck to ya and let us know if we can help

Thanks Geoff,

I tried cleaning the carb and jetts, they look pretty clean and I can see through both jets, but the small one is very small should I get a bigger jets?

If the bike is still stock you wont need a bigger size. If it has a fuel filter on it try changing it. I have to change the one on my sons 50cc every once in a while.

I agree with both geoff and brandon I would go threw the whole carb and look at everything closely ,jets floats, needle etc. To see if any of them are worn, dirty, bent, also how old is the fuel? check the fuel lines to see if there are any debry in them causing little to no fuel flow.

PostSubject: Hi Geoff, How do I set the float in my 49cc Baja dirt bike? There is a little needle on the float that clogs the hole where the gas comes from.   Tue Apr 13, 2010 2:03 pm

Spark Plug

I know 250r's if you would gap the plug too wide it will bog on acceleration. They said it was due to compression but it was just too weak a spark from the mag.
